Brand profile
- Adventure Food B.V. was founded in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1995, and taken over in 2003 by Dutch mountaineer Hans van der Meulen - the first Dutch climber to summit Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen (2002) and leader of the first Dutch expedition to the North Pole (1997). Its meals are still made in the Netherlands.
- France's NutriDry Group acquired the company in November 2022 from Marivo B.V.; at the time of the sale it held around 90% market share in the Netherlands and 10% in the UK, per the law firm that advised on the deal.

Who Adventure Food suits - and who should look elsewhere
Built from the 284-meal database, not opinion - the same facts anyone can check in the table below.
Good fit if…
- You don't want to split a pouch or do per-serving math: every one of Adventure Food's 22 meals in our database is a single-serving pouch, with servings known on all 22 - unlike Peak Refuel's all-2-serving lineup or Trailtopia's mixed 1- and 2-serving catalogue.
- You eat vegan: 2 of 22 meals are tagged vegan - Tropical Rice Dessert and Quinoa a la Mexicana - and both check out against Adventure Food's own ingredient panel, with no dairy, egg, or meat in either.
Look elsewhere if…
- You want an exact, brand-published price: Adventure Food publishes none of its own - its site is a catalogue with a shop-finder, no online store - so every price here is estimated from a single reseller (outdoor-food.nl) and converted from EUR to USD. It is a fair ballpark, not a figure to budget to the cent, and (unlike Radix Nutrition, the one brand we track with no usable price at all) it is a reseller's number, not the brand's own.
- You filter on gluten-free or dairy-free: Adventure Food publishes no such tags in our data for any of its 22 meals - only vegetarian (9) and vegan (2) - so for any other dietary need you're reading each ingredient label by hand.
- You have a milk or gluten allergy: milk appears in 16 of 22 meals and gluten in 11 - this is not an allergen-light lineup, check every label before you buy.

Scrambled Eggs is the clear pick on the numbers: Adventure Food's densest meal at 130.2 cal/oz (rank 85 of 284 meals in our database) and its highest-protein meal at 55.3 g of protein per 1,000 kcal, with 24.9 g of protein in a 450-calorie breakfast - at an estimated ~$15.13/1,000 kcal (a reseller price converted to USD, not Adventure Food's own figure).

Where the data says Adventure Food is strong - and weak
Computed from all 284 meals in our database, not opinion.
Strong
- Made in the Netherlands by a company founded in 1995 and taken over in 2003 by Dutch mountaineer Hans van der Meulen - the first Dutch climber to summit Everest without supplemental oxygen (2002) and leader of the first Dutch expedition to the North Pole (1997).
- One of the cheapest brands we track: at an estimated ~$14.41 per 1,000 kcal, Adventure Food is #2-cheapest of the 13 priced brands, behind only Tent Meals - though every price is a reseller estimate (outdoor-food.nl, EUR converted to USD), not the brand's own.
- Its diet tags follow the brand's own meat / fish / vegetarian menu: 9 of 22 meals are vegetarian, and the 2 vegan ones - Tropical Rice Dessert and Quinoa a la Mexicana - hold up against Adventure Food's own ingredient panel, with no dairy, egg, or meat in either.
- Every one of the 22 meals in our database is a single-serving pouch, with servings known on all 22 - no splitting or per-serving math needed.
- A mid-sized catalogue: 22 meals ranks #7 of 14 brands by size - bigger than 7 other brands we track, from Peak Refuel (20) down to Tent Meals (5), though well behind Mountain House's 41.
Weak
- No brand-published price: Adventure Food lists no price on its own site, so every figure here is estimated from a single reseller (outdoor-food.nl) and FX-converted from EUR - fine for a ballpark cost comparison, but not the brand's MSRP and not exact to the cent.
- Thin diet-filter data beyond vegetarian: 9 of 22 meals are tagged vegetarian and just 2 vegan, with nothing tagged gluten-free or dairy-free in our data - if you filter on those, you're reading labels by hand.
- Mid-to-low on both headline metrics: 119.1 cal/oz average density ranks #9 of 14 brands, and 32.3 g protein per 1,000 kcal ranks #12 of 14. Even its own densest meal, Scrambled Eggs at 130.2 cal/oz, beats only one of the other 13 brands' own ceiling (Good To-Go, 125.5 cal/oz) - every other brand's densest meal is denser than Adventure Food's.
- Publishes zero snack-type meals in our data: 2 breakfast, 17 main, 3 dessert, and nothing tagged snack.
